Recently, a slew of Japanese is coming our way from the factories of Toyota, cumulating in this big trend called Lean (as in “first there was Waterfall, then Iterative/Incremental, then Agile, and now we have Lean”). Now this is all fine and good, but every time Dave Laribee or Scott Bellware put some of those cool sounding words in their bg posts however, I need a dictionary to understand what they mean (no offense guys!). Even got a suggestion today to give in and learn Japanese.

Well, what to do? Me, being a pragmatic (read: lazy) guy, set apart 5 minutes to find a better solution (read: Google a bit). And here I present to you, dear reader, the one and only Lean Dictionary you will even need – by Staffan Nöteberg:

if you don’t see anything above, go here: Lean Dictionary – Staffan Nöteberg

A little less than two months ago, Microsoft offered to put an introductory article on Alt.NET in their Dutch .NET Magazine. This seemed like a good way to get a message out to the big Dutch .NET development community that there is more to development life than only MSDN (not belittling MSDN here, though). In other places Alt.NET is already old news, however it seems we’re way back here in the Netherlands At least repeated requests to join our AltdotNetherlands community have led to a small subcommunity of only
(n==6)
so far.

Now, Microsoft didn’t publish the article in their last December issue. Since they seem hesitant to even publish it in an upcoming edition (at least they cannot make a promise when it will be published), I decided that waiting on their decision would not really help getting people in the know. Therefore I decided to post it on my own. I created a new personal site which now only contains this article, and in the future will probably act as a sort of portfolio, or whatever. Not sure yet. But for your Dutch reading pleasure, now first enjoy Alt.NET: wat is dat eigenlijk? (in Dutch obviously)

The next meeting from the newly formed Alt.NET group in the Netherlands – AltDotNetherlands – is planned! It will take place in Cafe Americain in Amsterdam, just like last month, starting at 20.00. If you’re going to be present (everyone is welcome!), maybe you could fill out the >list of attendees so we know how many people to expect. Or chime in in the AltDotNetherlands newsgroup

This time we will talk about ASP.NET MVC and it’s relation to MonoRail. Hope to see a lot of you there.
